Winter 2014 Issue Progress Report

Created: Sep 21, 2014

Submissions for the Winter 2014 issue have been open since August 1. We’ve received a large number of submissions so far and they continue to come in daily. Submissions will be open until October 16.

First, a big thank you to everybody. It’s great to have an opportunity to read the works of writers from around the globe, and we very much appreciate your support.

Creating an issue is a bit like creating a musical composition. It’s not only the individual works, but how they might fit together as a whole. For that reason, we wait on some decisions until the end of the submission period.

Some pieces simply don’t fit. They may not be the style, tone or aesthetic that we’d like to present. If your submission has been declined, it is of course a subjective viewpoint and has no bearing on whether or not your work would be a good fit for another publication.

We’ve read all submissions that were received in August. If you submitted in August and haven’t received a response, it’s because we’ve still considering your submission and how it might fit into the whole. We haven’t yet read all of the submissions that arrived in September.

If you haven’t yet submitted, there’s still almost a month left until the October 16 deadline. Procrastinators take note that we keep the submission system active until it is no longer Oct 16 in any part of the world, that is until the final submission date crosses the International Date Line and falls into the south Pacific somewhere west of Midway and Baker islands. Hopefully you won’t cut it that close, but now you know.

Okay, we look forward to reading your work. And thanks again for your support.

Hi Diana - Not sure what you mean when you say that we opted you out. The mailing list has an opt-out ability, but we never do that for somebody, they always choose whether or not they want to be on the mailing list.

If you mean something else, records show that you registered on October 13, 2014 into the submission system but you didn't submit anything. Not sure what happened at your end, but sometimes people register and decide to come back later to submit. Which is fine, completely up to you. But there's been no more activity on your account since the 13th.

By registering, your email gets added to the mailing list. This means that you will get future announcements, unless of course you choose to opt-out which you can do easily. So I hope you will consider us again in the future.

Maybe you had a technical problem with the submission system, I don't know. But I encourage everybody that might have a problem to simply contact us through the contact page; we will help you find a solution quickly.

Thank you Paco-Michelle for the kind words and support. Currently going through submissions still and preparing the Winter issue. Next sub period opens Feb 1, 2015. You can always sign up for the mailing list if you haven't already, just a few emails a year. That way you'll get a reminder when the time gets closer. Thanks again!
